Ria D is a upcoming female Dj, singer and songwriter that plays and produces underground house music.
The brief was to create a new brand that reflected the bubbly personality of the female DJ as well as to portray the style of music through visual imagery, so the viewer can relate the brand to it's genre on first glance.
We explored different styles including a more energetic, funky retro look but decided to tone down and modernise by implementing another level of the more 'underground' by mixing the graffiti style that typically relates to 'the street' with subtle funky retro colourful elements.
We also created a sublogo - the graffiti crown, which symbolises the confident and professional, perhaps one of hierarchy; someone that knows what they are talking about. This can then be used and on it's own and still be recognised as part of the Ria D brand as it also features in the primary logo.
After we designed the website, we then went on to design 2 track covers for coming releases, the first 'trust' was to get across the funky and catchy beat as well as tie in nicely with the video graphics. The second cover was for more of a classic summer house tune, about love, so the detailing of the cover included palm trees, a couple mixed with some retro geo elements to tie in with the branding too.
